A couple weeks ago we propagated Monstera deliciosa via stem cuttings with the interns at the ECHO North America RIC. Monstera is such an interesting fruit and easy to propagate. The stems grow roots out of almost every node as it sprawls along the ground making it fairly easy to have successful cuttings. A network member shared that in Hawaii they use Monstera to stabilize steep hillside slopes.
We usually use the stem in the transition zone between the older hard-woody stem and young green stem. Our cuttings are often about 6in (15cm) and we try to have at least 3 nodes. When we plant it we lay it horizontally on the soil surface and leave half or more of the stem above the soil.
Here is a great resource from IFAS if you want to learn more about Monstera HS1071/HS311: Monstera Growing in the Florida Home Landscape.
