Dr_Ulrich_Schmidt

I am a senior consultant of German nationality with more than 30 years of experience in international development cooperation for Rural Development, (Livestock Development), during the first decade in Eastern Africa and afterwards mainly in Central and Eastern Europe; for short term assignments also in the Caucasus Region (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Georgia) and occasionally in West- and North Africa.
After a solid academic preparation in Animal Production (tropics and subtropics) and in Agricultural Extension at the University of Hohenheim, Germany (M.Sc. and Ph.D.), my working experience embraced a wide range of topics, mainly in the framework of smallholder livestock production systems (Small Ruminants and Dairy Cattle).
Since the beginning of my professional career, I have tried to place side by side the technical know-how (animal production) and the competence in agricultural extension, as the instrument for training and capacity building, knowledge sharing & dissemination, in order to foster innovation and development. My concern was always to include smallholder (livestock) in projects and I am glad to find inspiration in this group.
