The changing climatic conditions and influx of green house gases (GHG) such as CO2, CH4 and N20, has impacted negatively on the feedstuff available for farmers. Some of these feedstuff come from both from plant and animals. There is therefore the need for farmers to meticulously choose what kind of feedstuff to use in formulating diets for their livestock so as not to leave residues which could be detrimental to human health.
Production of animals is a good thing as there is a deficit in animal protein in the diets of most person, especially those in Africa. The question now is, how are these animals being produced? What are they being fed with? Will their consumption leave man in a better state of health or worse? Is their production leaving the environment and ecosystem more healthy and in a good state or rather, in a destroyed and dilapidated state?
This calls for concern and immediate reconsideration on the part of the farmers.
