I am new to farming.
i just planted this from seed and now there are white stripes on the leaves
Can someone help me? Is this a disease on the leaves? What should I do? Can it still be eaten or should I cut off the leaves or uproot and throw away the entire plant?
This looks like leaf miner damage. Leaf miners are the larvae of certain flies and moths that eat the plant tissue and cause those white lines. If you remove the leaves with damage you may be able to remove the larvae as well, which will allow your plant to continue to grow! Keep cutting off leaves when they show that type of damage. It looks like you still have healthy plants and that damage doesn’t look too extensive yet

In some crops, growers generally use silica because it acts as a structural bio-shield. The roots absorb it and transport it up to the leaves, where it accumulates to form an invisible, glass-like armor layer. This mechanical shield hardens the plant tissue so much that insects (like leafminers), cannot chew or pierce it, because the material is so abrasive that it wears down their mouthparts. plant becomes so tough and indigestible that the pests simply cannot eat it, stopping the infestation naturally. Could you read about that, but its only one more of multiple opcion.
