Experience with lime sulfur spray or Bordeaux mixture?

Does anyone have any experience using a homemade lime sulfur spray as a pesticide? Or using a Bordeaux mixture as a fungicide? A local organic produce farmer here in Guatemala recommended using these as general purpose sprays, but I would appreciate also hearing others’ opinions and recipes for these two options before making them to try on our property. (They are known as “Caldo Bordelés” and “Caldo Sulficalcio” in Spanish, I believe.) Thanks in advance!
