This is a good piece of information to start by. One thing I would add for people where it might be hard to find enough green plant material at certain times of the year. You can use urine to help it heat up a decompose faster when short on green plant material. Just dump urine into the pile after turning it and watering the pile. For a small pile that might be 2 x 2 meters and 1 meter high 1 gallon is enough to make a big difference.
