I2 eye drop New castle vaccine

Erwin mentioned I2 eye drop New castle vaccine. This is very interesting to me, as we have a big problem with New castle in Haiti. The regular vaccines have not been feasible with Haiti’s current situation.

Does anyone know where I could purchase the I2 in the US?

I looked into this a little, and my guess is that the I2 vaccine is not available in the US yet (and may never be, it’s up to the USDA whether or not it gets approved). I’ve asked some veterinarians if they have any information or insight and I will pass that info along as soon as I can! What I do know is that the I2 vaccine is manufactured by a Kenyan company called KALRO, and is probably available in eastern Africa (if not Africa as a whole). Here is their PDF with information and instructions:
CONTROL NEWCASTLE DISEASE USING AVIVAX -I-2.pdf (553.7 KB)

You will find some additional information in the ECHOcommunity collection on Newcastle Disease.

As a summary-
The Newcastle Disease I-2 Vaccine is produced by several organizations and institutions around the world, including:

  1. John Francis Virology Laboratory, University of Queensland: This lab prepared the master seed for the I-2 strain.
  2. Vaccine Production Laboratories in Developing Countries: These labs receive the master seed from the University of Queensland to produce the vaccine locally.
  3. Kenya Veterinary Vaccines Production Institute (KEVEVAPI): They produce and distribute the vaccine within Kenya

Perhaps others can chime in on availability in their regions of the world.
