Jackfruit Budwood Selection

We are entering Jackfruit grafting season at ECHO NARIC. We have found over the years that the stage budwood is in really impacts the grafting success of Jackfruit.

Below are ideal Jackfruit buds for grafting. The terminal bud is full, but unopened and the leaves around it are hardened off. The bud is dark green.

Below are bad buds to graft for Jackfruit. They have started to turn light green and are too swollen or even beginning to open. If the bud is too small and not yet full, that is another indicator that it will not be a good bud for grafting.
