After nearly 8 years of continuous operation, alas, it is time to replace our IBC tote biogas digester. The plastic on the old tote had become so brittle that it kept cracking and could no longer be patched. Overall, the $500 in initial installation plus roughly $100 in repairs and maintenance along the way brought the total ownership and operating cost to $75/year.
We have been impressed with how low maintenance this digester has been. As such, we are currently replacing it with a similar design.
Does anyone else have experiences with this style of digester or others? We’d love to hear what you have learned!
