Squirrels in Maize Field

Has anybody here developed methods for keeping squirrels out of corn fields? They like to eat the young cobbs right before harvest, eating a bite or two and then dropping the rest. Any tips appreciated

It was a bit tricky the first time I planted maize but later I sprayed all the maize that were facing the squirrel’s hole with pepper, neem and some soap to help hold everything in place and I think it tried one and found that it wasn’t any delicious.
Squirrels are quite intelligent and they remember well. I didn’t see them visit my maize upto harvest time.

I didn’t do it again and so I can’t confirm if it was luck or otherwise!
