Some wells in the communities we are working with in Cambodia have water that is outside WHO recommendations for human consumption. These wells will not be used for that purpose but the question is whether the water could be used for livestock. Specifically fish farming and raising frogs. The notable concerns are high Iron and Manganese and total dissolved solids (TDS). Some wells have TDS readings around 9,000 ppm. Any recommendations on where to find water quality guidelines/standards for livestock?
Hey Aaron, we’re just getting back together after the holidays here at ECHO. I’ll bring this question up at our meeting this morning and we’ll see what information we can find for you.
Relative to tilapia 9,000ppm is not a problem, most varieties are hardy and a forgiving fish to raise for amateurs!
