What varieties are in the cowpea 'mix'?

Does anyone know which varieties are included in the cowpea ‘mix’ in the Seed Bank? The description just says “A mix of four quick producing cowpea varieties.”

Hi Norris! The varieties aren’t listed because they can change over time depending on what is available, but our current mix contains ‘Bettergro Blackeye Pea,’ ‘Thailand Long,’ ‘Mungo,’ and ‘Okinawa.’ The latter two are not in our catalog but I can provide additional information on them if needed.

Thanks! Yes, I’d appreciate any information on Mungo and Okinawa.

Here is some info on each:

Mungo - A very good eating quality dry black bean, very heat and humidity tolerant. Vigorous spreading bean will yield split sets of up to 8 pods per set; thrives in hot summer conditions. Young pods may be cooked like green beans, but more often mature beans are eaten as a pulse. This accession comes from Nigeria and was given by Hope Seeds.

Okinawa - received from Crafton Clift; his favorite cowpea variety. Pinkish-brown seed and does not crack easily when dried.
